Multi-talented artist and producer and I mean real producer from Oakland, CA Ovrkast is topic of this post. He has credits with Earl Sweatshirt, Mavi DavidTheTragic and more. I believe he was a producer first, but this is about his rapping which deserves more recognition than it gets. He has a bunch of scattered singles on his sound cloud my favorites are on the playlist, but his album Try again is what really hooked me when I found him. His project hits home to anyone that deals with anxiety, PTSD, self-doubt and falling victim to their own expectations. In my opinion that’s everyone in some capacity. His title song “Try Again” is exactly about that and sets the tone for the rest of the album. Ovrkast brought MAVI, Navy Blue, Pink Siifu and one of his best friends Demahjiae to feature on the project. Easily no skips on Try Again but “Church” is my favorite with the title song in a close second. The most recent favorite of mine is “Vent” the beat switch is so perfect, and it bumps in the car.
