Phaydo has made a big jump from this year to last year. His style and artistry have evolved greatly. I personally love the lane he’s playing in and feel like he is a name that can be mentioned among the rising stars in the Underground. I found him through his affiliation with some of our favorite artist like babydraco, Kevin Kazi, Freddo and our all-time favorite Producer Fish. Listening to Phaydo’s music gives me confidence, I don’t know how to describe it other than I feel cool listening to it. I love when Phaydo gets a little more lyrical while maintaining his melodics like in “Middle of May” easily one of my favorite songs of his. He also has one of my favorite Gun bars in the underground “Lately I’ve been out my body, right beside me, Draco standing tall like Kazi” the way it lines up with the beat is so clean it gets stuck in my head for days at a time after I hear it. The other thing to mention is his ear. His beat selection is awesome and not just because of Fish. He maintains this Rock and Roll influence in his beats he has with all the producers he works with creating his signature sound, which is hard to do for any artist. He also intertwines his music with other talent he feels are racing toward the dame goal as him which makes it easier to take anyone serious when you see they aren’t building alone. I do wish Phaydo would step outside his box a bit and try some new sounds because I love to hear artists with established sounds shock their fans with a new wave they haven’t been on.
