With his latest EP What Can They Say, HDBeenDope has a message for those still sleeping on him, “It’s time to wake up”. The project clocks in at only twelve minutes but it’s twelve minutes of HD at his best, showcasing his ability as a lyricist, flowing effortlessly over beats with songs like “Half Steppin”. But what truly makes HD’s music fun to listen to is its continuous energy. Bangers like “Mamba” and “Wake Em Up” highlight HD’s lively delivery and dynamic, constantly shifting flows over some hard-hitting beats. Shortly after the EP’s release in October, HD dropped even more fire with “Paper Planes Freestyle”, along with the major announcement that he is now signed to Roc Nation; a dream come true for the native Brooklyn rapper. Afterall, he’s been grinding for nearly a decade to get to where he is today. HD started creating and releasing music at a very early age, and has been growing as an artist with each project, with his first album Pheace Be The Journey back in 2016 and his follow up album BrokeN Dreams 2020. Since then, HD has put out two EP’s and a handful of fantastic singles such as “Rev Run’” and “Byrd”. But fans who were hungry for bars were kept well-fed with his FreeVerse series on Youtube where he released a new freestyle accompanied with a creative music video every week for over two years. HDBeenDope has the talent and drive to be a mainstay in hip-hop and with the weight of a major label now behind him, the sky’s the limit and fans can only expect more great music in the near future.
