Channing

This young man, who goes by the name, “Channing” has displayed immense potential in his first ever release “Dopamine.” This is the first full song he has ever created. It currently has 72k plays but as you know numbers don’t accurately portray whether or not a song is any good, but I personally enjoyed this one. The song is a good depiction of Channing’s core style although not his only one. Channing is lyrical even in the songs that are more for hype. This is a good indication of his talent for writing but also the care he puts in his craft, even if your screaming lyrics he wants them to mean something. The following tracks were “Options” and “Bag Talk.” The first was a big improvement lyrically and sonically from his first release. “Bag Talk” showed a new side, featuring Toon-B (the next artist on the local series) his best friend and fellow artist. After 3 singles Channing released his EP Yung Buck containing 11 new songs. This was an even bigger step up in quality and lyricism. I can feel pure emotion in these songs. My favorites being “Gatekeeper”, “Whole Lotta Trouble”, “Can’t Get Enough” and his EP’s title song. I also noticed from top to bottom his songs progressed in quality. He informed me the reason for this was that “those were pretty much the only songs I made for about 2 years”. Channing went on to express the importance of not stunting your own creativity due to expectation and appearances. He claims he has grown a lot since Yung Buck, has made more music and should have more songs out before the concert. I’m excited to hear how expressing himself even more freely will affect his music. Channing has new music coming soon. Listen to it music below.
