DavidTheTragic

The status quo isn’t something DavidTheTragic attempts to follow or imitate. His old music certainly shows he can sound conventional but has opted for his own style which is what drew me to him in the first place. DavidTheTragic is a polarizing figure, the kind of artist you love or hate creating diehard fans and affiliates (as we saw in our comments for his review). I think the most unique thing about him as an artist is the swing in his flow. The consistent slightly off beat flow reminds me of how you offset high hats to make the song feel more human. It feels off beat but if you listen for a few bars, you catch his cadence. His songs feel more like a performance, not the quantized flow you hear today. His beat selection and the people he collaborates with on a regular basis are important to his music as well. The group he works with closely feels like they are a band. Still Alive being my favorite work to date is something I suggest you give a chance. I can’t promise that it’s for everyone, but I can promise you won’t be bored. I personally love it and can wait for his next project to drop. The experience of DavidTheTragic is weird but in a good way.
