The Snotty Shogun aka snottyman has only piece of work and it’s Blue Metal Dragon. This was a pleasure to listen to given that Boom Bap or Old School Hip Hop is what most but especially I grew loving. The way he breathes new life into this style is refreshing and makes me think of some other rappers we’ve listened to on the podcast like Ovrkast and Pink Siifu. There is a whole underground community of artist that create a new wave of Boom Bap with the focus on lyrics and production like 90’s Hip Hop. I love that these people make what they love and don’t follow trends. They are a niche with in a niche and a few break out into mainstream but usually have a cult following like the Griselda line up or Earl Sweatshirt. This group has some talent and among them and I think snottyman can hang. His only album came out in 2019 and his last single 7 months ago dissing someone stealing his beats. The album is filled with great bars and references that hit home. He talks about Avatar The Last Airbender, Dragon Ball Z and a bunch of anime and old music references. It was nostalgic listening to him in a way, making it really fun to listen to not to mention the quality is excellent. I haven’t seen anything that says he will be releasing anymore music, but we all hope he does and soon.
