Surf’s sonics set him apart from other rappers in his lane. His voice isn’t too heavily engineered unlike his peers that have a similar sound making him stand out. It’s easy for someone not well versed in this kind of Hip Hop to say he sounds like everyone else, but he simply doesn’t. This Sub-Genre isn’t always something you can listen to on repeat due to its repetitive nature, but I think that’s something that sets this great artist apart. His ear for production is amazing with his beats always lending themselves to his style but being different enough to keep it interesting and forcing him to experiment with flows a bit. The talent is clear but a huge part of that is how professional it sounds; every track has industry level quality which is rare for underground artist due to lack of resources or knowledge. The writing is also above what most with his peers usually come up with. His bars aren’t anything that will go over your head, but some have forced a stank face to appear and made me play it back a few times (something I rarely do with this sub-genre). The bar I first heard like that was on “OFF THE LEASH” “It’s funny how I’m getting money and minding my business, but you got a problem with me. It’s crazy how I push a button and start up the whip like I got a problem with keys”. It’s nothing over the top but his delivery makes it hit differently. The point is that Surf could become a real menace in the game any day now. I’m honestly shocked how little exposure he has but then again that’s exactly what excites me. I have loved finding diamonds in the rough since I can remember, I’m just happy to be building a platform to help showcase them.
